The base M4 Pro MacBook Pro supports two external displays at up to 6K@60Hz over Thunderbolt 4, plus the built-in screen. If only one external monitor shows up, the cause is almost always one of three things: 1) The second monitor is daisy-chained off the first, but the first monitor doesn't have Thunderbolt 4 passthrough - connect each monitor to a separate port on the Mac instead. 2) A USB-C hub or DisplayPort MST splitter is in the chain - Apple silicon doesn't support MST, only true Thunderbolt 4 hubs work. 3) The cable is USB 3 instead of Thunderbolt 4 / USB4. Open System Settings → Displays and click "Detect Displays" while holding Option.
Sleep/wake or unplug-replug the second monitor. Update to macOS 15.2 or later - early M4 builds had a multi-monitor handshake bug. Need a tested dual-monitor setup? We sell certified Thunderbolt 4 docks at our Dubai store.
