MacBook Air M4 Trackpad Clicking Dubai | Fix

The MacBook Air M4 uses a Force Touch trackpad powered by a Taptic Engine - there are no physical buttons; clicks are simulated by haptic vibration. If you're hearing or feeling a buzz when scrolling, it's usually one of three causes. 1) Force Click sensitivity is set too high - open System Settings → Trackpad → Point & Click and lower "Click Pressure" to Light. 2) Tap to Click is on AND you're brushing the surface - turn it off to test. 3) The Taptic Engine itself is mis-firing, often after a fall or pressure on the bottom case.

Restart the Mac while holding power for 10 seconds (forces SMC reset on Apple silicon). If the buzz persists during simple cursor movement (not just scroll), the Taptic Engine or trackpad connector is damaged - we repair it at our Dubai workshop with a 90-day warranty after a free diagnosis.

If the trackpad only misbehaves in certain apps or since a macOS update, the cause is software, which we handle under MacBook software repair.

The first thing I check on any Air with a trackpad complaint is the battery, because the trackpad sits above it. A cell that has started to swell pushes the pad up from below, and the symptoms arrive in order: a trackpad that clicks on its own, then one that will not click, then a bottom cover that rocks on the desk. On older Airs this is the usual cause; on an M4 bought this year it is rare, but a summer in a hot car can bring it forward.

The other check is the bottom cover screws and any hard-shell case. A case that is slightly too tight bows the base enough to load the trackpad's force sensors, and the Mac reads that as pressure. Take the case off and test for a day before assuming the trackpad itself is at fault.
