What drives the quote up on the bench is rarely the glass. A 14-inch or 16-inch Pro with mini-LED costs more because the panel has thousands of local dimming zones and the lid must be transferred as a sealed unit. An Air's panel is simpler and the job shorter. The second driver is damage beyond the display: a hinge that has pulled out of the lid, or a bent corner that needs reshaping before a new assembly will sit flat.
