If that did not fix it
Before you decide on the screen
A cracked or dark panel is sometimes hiding a second fault. A MacBook Pro that was dropped hard enough to break the glass often has a loose display cable or a bent hinge, and a liquid spill that killed the backlight has usually touched the logic board too. The screen quote only makes sense once we know the rest of the machine is sound.
Bring it in powered off with the charger. We connect an external monitor, run a board check and read the battery and SSD health before giving a figure, so you compare a complete repair against trade-in, not just the panel.
When the maths works
On a recent Pro, replacing the screen is usually the right call.
A working MacBook Pro of recent vintage holds a substantial share of its value, and a screen replacement is a fraction of what the same machine costs to replace. Repair it, get another two or three years of use, and the decision pays for itself — which is why we recommend it on most Apple Silicon Pros without much hesitation.
It stops being worth it in three situations. When the machine is old enough that macOS support runs out within a year or so, a new screen buys you very little. When the logic board has separate problems — liquid damage, a GPU fault — the repairs stack and the total moves past sensible. And when battery, keyboard and trackpad all need work at the same time, you are rebuilding the machine one part at a time. Our own threshold: if the repair passes roughly 60 percent of what the working machine would trade for, we tell you.
Past roughly 60 percent of the machine's working trade value, we advise against the repair.
On a recent Pro a panel replacement buys real remaining life, not a few months.
Board, battery and keyboard problems together usually mean trade rather than repair.
The assessment costs nothing and you keep it whether or not you go ahead.

The full answer
Repair cost vs trade-in value vs new purchase - here's when fixing the screen makes financial sense.
Replacing a MacBook Pro screen is usually worth it on any Pro from 2018 onwards. The math: a screen replacement at our Dubai workshop is quoted per model after a free diagnosis. A used MacBook Pro 14 M3 with working screen sells for AED 6,500-9,000 used. Repair, keep using it for 2-3 more years, and you've made the right call. Replacement is NOT worth it if: 1) The MacBook is pre-2017 - even with a new screen, you'll hit macOS support limits within a year. 2) The logic board has separate issues (water damage, GPU failure) - the repair stacks up. 3) Battery, keyboard, and trackpad all need work simultaneously - at that point, trade-in plus new purchase makes more sense.
We give honest assessments: if repair cost exceeds 60% of trade-in value of the working device, we'll tell you. Free diagnosis at our Dubai workshop.
The same question applies to batteries, boards and keyboards, and whether MacBook repair is worth it in 2026 works through each.
When our answer is not to repair, the machine still has a price as it stands. We buy used Apple devices with cracked panels and stacked faults, valued for the condition they are in.
From the bench: what we see with this one
The decision we help with most often at the Concord Tower desk is for the 2019 to 2021 generation of MacBook Pros. The 16-inch Intel model from 2019 has a panel that is expensive relative to what the machine now fetches, and its battery is usually past 500 cycles, so we are honest that it is a borderline case. The 14 and 16-inch M1 Pro and later machines are a different story. The chassis, keyboard and ports on those hold up well, and a new display puts them back to a seven or eight year life.
We also check for the Flexgate backlight fault on 2016 to 2018 13-inch models, where the screen works when opened a little and dies past 45 degrees; that is a cable, cheaper than a panel. Summer heat in a parked car cracks LCDs internally without any drop, which shows as a dark blotch spreading from one edge.
