This decision gets made badly more often than almost any other IT choice, usually because whoever was asked had a preference rather than a method. Both suites are mature and both will run your business. The differences that matter are narrower and more specific than the marketing on either side suggests.
The single question that decides it most often
Does anyone in your business do serious work in Excel? Not spreadsheets in general, but pivot tables, complex formulas, macros or models received from clients. If yes, Microsoft 365 wins and the rest of the comparison rarely overturns it. Google Sheets is capable, but complex Excel files do not survive the round trip cleanly and finance teams notice immediately.
If nobody does, the decision opens up considerably and Workspace becomes a serious contender on simplicity alone.

Admin overhead is underrated
Microsoft 365 is more configurable, which is an advantage when you have someone to configure it and a burden when you do not. A ten-person Dubai business with no dedicated IT person often gets more real value from Workspace, simply because the console is comprehensible and fewer things are left in an insecure default state.
Match the tool to the admin
Configurability you never use is complexity you still pay for in administration time. Match the suite to who will actually run it.
