Which one your timeline needs
The mini M4 Pro is enough for most Dubai editors.
For 4K H.264 and ProRes, multicam and everyday colour work in Resolve, the Mac mini M4 Pro handles the job without drama. Most of the editors we sell to and support in Dubai are working inside that envelope, and buying past it means paying for headroom that sits idle. It is also the quieter recommendation to make honestly, because it is the cheaper one.
The Studio earns its place at a specific point: 8K ProRes, RAW from high-end cinema cameras, dense node trees, Fusion compositing, or an external capture rig. There the extra GPU cores, the larger memory pool and the second ProRes engine cut render times substantially, and the memory headroom keeps a heavy timeline running alongside everything else you have open without swapping. Extra ports and a front card slot matter more day to day than the spec sheet suggests. Both machines are effectively silent.
H.264 and ProRes timelines with everyday grading run comfortably on the M4 Pro.
Two ProRes engines and far more GPU cut render times on genuinely heavy work.
A large timeline alongside other apps is where the Studio's headroom shows.
Bring a real project file to the workshop and we will run it on both.
The full answer
Both edit 4K well - but the Studio handles 8K ProRes and Resolve grading the Mac mini can't. Here's when to choose which.
For most video editors in Dubai, the Mac mini M4 Pro (12-core CPU / 16-core GPU, 24 GB RAM) is enough - it handles 4K H.264, 4K ProRes, multicam, and basic colour grading in DaVinci Resolve smoothly. It starts around AED 6,800. If your timeline is 8K ProRes, RAW from Sony FX/RED, heavy Resolve nodes, Fusion compositing, or you run an external Blackmagic capture rig, step up to the Mac Studio M4 Max (16-core CPU / 40-core GPU, 64 GB RAM and two ProRes engines instead of one). Render times are 40-60% faster on the Studio, and 64 GB unified memory means no swap thrash with timelines + Photoshop + Chrome open.
Studio also offers more ports - including front USB-C / SD card slot. Both are silent. Want to test both before buying? Visit our Dubai Media City store to benchmark with your own project file.
