Slow WiFi Fix Dubai

Our engineers work through the same ranked checklist on every call-out, because the pattern across Dubai is consistent: about 70 percent of slow-WiFi cases trace to the local network, not Etisalat or du. Most of these causes are invisible without instruments, which is exactly why guess-and-replace fails and why a measured diagnosis is almost always cheaper than buying new routers. The eight causes, in the order we check them:

Step 1: a wired speed test directly from the ISP modem, which rules the Etisalat or du line in or out immediately. Step 2: a per-room signal survey with a spectrum analyser to map where coverage collapses. Step 3: a channel-utilisation scan to expose neighbour interference, the silent killer in JLT and Marina towers. Step 4: a capacity test under real load. All four fit inside the 60-minute call-out, and you keep the readings.

Many fixes cost nothing beyond the diagnostic call-out: channel reassignment, router relocation, firmware updates and configuration changes are included in the visit. Adding one or two access points is quoted as hardware plus installation, and a full upgrade to a prosumer Ubiquiti UniFi system with U6 Mesh or U7 Pro APs on wired backhaul is quoted installed. WiFi AMC clients pay no call-out fees.

A very common Dubai-specific fault: the Etisalat eLife or du router stays in full router mode while a mesh system runs behind it, creating double NAT that throttles throughput and breaks gaming and VPN traffic. We reconfigure the ISP unit into bridge mode so your own system handles routing, a 20-minute change that often doubles real-world speed. If the line itself underperforms, we escalate to the ISP with documented timed tests.

Dubai construction uses dense reinforced concrete and block walls that attenuate a 5 GHz signal by 10-20 dB per wall, several times worse than drywall. One router rarely covers a three-bedroom apartment, let alone a villa. The correct fix is never maximum transmit power; it is the right number of access points placed so every room sits one wall or less from a signal source.
