What passive cooling means once the machine is on the bench
A laptop with nowhere to blow the heat
The MacBook Air M5 arrived in March 2026 in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, carrying a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, a 16-core neural engine and up to 32GB of unified memory in a chassis with no fan in it. Apple bought roughly 18 percent more sustained-load efficiency over the M4, and the practical effect is cooler fanless operation even through a long Final Cut Pro export. That is a design choice, not a defect, and it is why an owner reporting a warm palm rest usually has nothing wrong at all.
It also rewrites the repair. Heat has to travel through the case, so anything that interrupts that path counts: dust drawn through the chassis vents during sandstorm season, a pack seated a fraction proud after a careless battery swap, a top case reassembled without the adhesive being cleaned back properly. The Air is thin enough that those millimetres matter, which is why the March 2026 pack, at slightly greater thickness than the M4 one, made us rewrite the isopropyl dwell time in our own procedure. The two sizes do part ways in a few places. The 15-inch has six speakers where the 13-inch has four, so a buzzing driver is mostly a 15-inch complaint, and we work out whether it is one driver or the whole assembly before quoting. Its 15.3-inch panel is held to tighter backlight-uniformity tolerances, so a replacement is checked across nine zones (four corners, four edges, the centre) against a Datacolor SpyderX Pro before handover. On the 13-inch, the thing we see most after screens and batteries is a MagSafe 3 connector that has lost its magnetic alignment from being knocked around airport trays.

Two MacBook Air service centres in Dubai, both walk-in
Neither Dubai service centre needs booking, and neither charges for the intake look. Media City is Office 45, tenth floor of Concord Tower, one lift ride up from the visitor parking (first 15 minutes free, then paid). Bur Dubai is G 58 in the IT Center Building on 21A Street, where the street parking outside is paid and the BurJuman car park picks up the overflow.
Both run Monday to Saturday 09:00 to 19:00, break for Friday prayers from 12:00 to 14:00 and close on Sunday. If several Airs from one office need doing, message first and we will book the batch in together, a job ticket per machine, so nobody waits at the counter for four intakes.
Where the M5 Airs come from
Media City covers DMC, Internet City, Tecom, JLT, Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, Al Sufouh and Studio City. Bur Dubai covers Bur Dubai, Karama, Deira, Downtown, Business Bay, DIFC and DHCC. Repairs are walk-in only; AMC offices can have the engineer bring a batch in on a scheduled visit.
