What ID do I need to bring to sell my iPhone in Dubai?
UAE residents and citizens bring Emirates ID, front and back - it is photographed and held in our purchase log. Tourists and short-term visitors bring a valid passport with the UAE entry stamp or current visa. Businesses selling a fleet of iPhones bring a trade licence copy, a signed authorisation letter on company letterhead naming the person handing the devices over, and that person's Emirates ID. We log ID against the device IMEI for every transaction - this is standard UAE second-hand electronics compliance under the Department of Economic Development rules, and it protects both sides if a device is ever reported lost or stolen later. The only mandatory items are the iPhone itself, the charging cable so we can power-on test it, and your Emirates ID or passport. The original box and accessories are not required, though they do add to the offer.
How does iCloud sign-out and the Activation Lock check work in person?
Activation Lock and Find My iPhone is the single biggest reason used-iPhone deals fall through across Dubai, so we handle it carefully and in person. When you walk into our Media City or Bur Dubai workshop, we sit with you at the counter, open Settings then your Apple ID at the top, and you sign out yourself with your Apple ID password. We do NOT bypass Apple security - nobody legitimately can, and we are not in that business. After you sign out, we verify on the device that Find My iPhone is OFF, that Activation Lock has cleared, and that the iPhone boots into the welcome screen as factory-fresh. Only after that verification do we release the cash, transfer or deposit slip. If you have forgotten your Apple ID password we pause the deal and give you our workshop WiFi plus a quiet desk to run Apple's free account recovery at appleid.apple.com - we never buy a device that is still iCloud-locked.
What if I genuinely cannot remember my Apple ID or sign in to iCloud?
We strongly recommend resetting your Apple ID password before you walk in - go to appleid.apple.com and use Apple's account recovery process, which is free and usually completes within one to three days. We will give you our workshop WiFi and a quiet desk if you want to start it at the counter. If Apple's recovery fails completely (lost trusted device, lost recovery key, lost rescue email, account locked beyond recovery), we cannot offer the standard valuation because we cannot legally or ethically resell an iCloud-locked iPhone. In that case we may still buy the device for genuine parts value - board, screen, camera, battery and frame components - with full disclosure logged on the receipt. We always recommend Apple account recovery first because it preserves your full offer. Any 'Activation Lock bypass' service advertised online is a scam or worse, and we have no involvement with any of them.
How long does the whole sale take, from walking in to walking out with cash?
Typically 20 to 35 minutes for a clean, unlocked device. Step one (about 5 minutes): we power-on test, confirm the IMEI matches the photos you sent, and run a quick functional check on touch, speakers, cameras, Face ID or Touch ID and battery health. Step two (5 to 10 minutes): you sign out of your Apple ID and we verify Find My iPhone is off and Activation Lock has cleared. Step three (about 5 minutes): we photograph the device against the purchase log, photograph your Emirates ID or passport, and produce a written purchase receipt.
