Al Barsha sits about ten minutes from our Dubai Media City workshop, and it is one of the more mixed areas we cover: villa streets in Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3, apartment blocks near Mall of the Emirates, a dense cluster of international schools, and the office towers of Barsha Heights just up the road. The MacBook work reflects that mix rather than falling into one pattern. School and university machines make up an unusually large share. Al Barsha's schools have gone almost entirely to laptop-based teaching, which means a lot of MacBook Airs travelling in backpacks every day, and the predictable result is cracked screens, bent chassis corners from drops and hinge damage from lids being closed on pens and cables.
