A suspended Google Business Profile takes your Map Pack visibility, your review history and your call volume with it, usually without warning and rarely with a useful explanation. This is the complete recovery sequence for UAE businesses: how to work out which kind of suspension you have, what evidence actually persuades a reviewer here, how to file one clean appeal, and what your remaining options are if that appeal comes back denied.
Do this first, before anything else
Do not create a replacement profile. A second listing for the same business turns a recoverable suspension into a duplicate-listing problem, and the new profile is usually suspended too. Work the existing listing until it is genuinely exhausted.
Is it a soft or a hard suspension?
The two behave completely differently and the recovery paths are not the same, so identify which you have before touching anything.
- Soft suspension: you can still sign in and see the dashboard, but the profile no longer appears publicly and edits will not go live. Usually triggered by a guideline breach in the profile data itself.
- Hard suspension: the listing is removed outright, ownership is gone, and you may be locked out of managing it. Usually triggered by something structural such as the address or the eligibility of the business itself.
- Neither is the same as filtering. A filtered listing still exists and still ranks somewhere; it is simply being outranked or grouped. Check whether you can find it by exact business name before assuming a suspension.
Why UAE profiles get suspended
Most suspensions here trace back to a small number of causes, and several are specific to how businesses are set up in the Emirates.
Virtual offices and shared addresses
Google requires a location staffed during stated hours where you can meet customers. A flexi-desk, business-centre package or shared licence address frequently fails that test, and multiple businesses registered at one address compound it. This is the single most common structural trigger in the UAE, and it is also the hardest to appeal, because the listing is not wrong about the facts. It is the facts that do not qualify.
Business name violations
The name field must carry your real-world business name, the one on your signage and your trade licence. Adding keywords or a city to rank better is a guideline breach, and it is enforced. If your name reads like a search query rather than a brand, fix it before you appeal anything else.
Address and licence mismatch
The profile address should match the trade licence and the tenancy record. Small discrepancies such as an office number that appears on one document and not the other are enough to stall a reinstatement, because the reviewer cannot reconcile the paperwork.
Category and service misrepresentation
Listing services the licence does not cover, or choosing a primary category that does not reflect what you actually do on site, both create risk. So does a service-area configuration that claims a radius far beyond where you genuinely operate.
The UAE evidence pack
Reinstatement is decided on documents, not on argument. Assemble everything before you open the appeal, because a partial submission usually produces a refusal you then have to work back from.
- Trade licence, current and not expired, with the business name exactly as it appears on the profile
- Tenancy contract or Ejari for the address on the listing
- Recent utility or DEWA bill showing the same address
- Exterior photographs showing permanent signage with the business name legible
- Interior photographs showing a staffed, operational premises
- A photograph that establishes the unit within the building, such as the door or floor directory
- VAT certificate or Chamber of Commerce membership where you have them
Everything should agree with everything else. If the licence says one legal name and the signage says a trading name, include whatever document connects the two rather than leaving the reviewer to guess.
Filing one clean appeal
You get the best outcome from a single well-prepared submission. Repeated appeals with slightly different information tend to read as inconsistency.
- Fix the underlying breach first. Appealing while the name still contains keywords wastes the attempt.
- Submit the full evidence pack in one go, clearly labelled.
- State plainly what the business is, where it operates from, and who staffs it.
- Do not argue about competitors or about fairness. It has no bearing on the decision.
- Then wait. Resubmitting after a few days restarts the queue rather than accelerating it.
The appeal came back denied. Now what?
A denial is not necessarily final, but repeating the same submission will not change the outcome. Work through this in order.
- Identify what was actually unresolved. If the denial cites the address, more signage photographs will not help.
- Fix the substantive issue if it can be fixed, such as moving to a qualifying address or correcting the licence name.
- Escalate through the Google Business Profile community forum, where product experts can sometimes route a case for another look.
- If the business genuinely does not qualify for a listing at its current address, accept that and change the underlying setup rather than repeatedly appealing.
- Keep every reference number and screenshot. A documented history helps if the case is reviewed again later.
Duplicate listings
Duplicates usually appear when someone opens a second profile during a suspension, or when a listing is auto-generated from other data. Two profiles for one location split reviews and rankings and can suspend each other. Report the duplicate and request a merge rather than deleting the older listing, because the older one normally carries the review history you want to keep.
Someone else changed my listing
Public suggested edits mean a competitor or a passer-by can alter your details, and in some cases another party can claim management of a profile you thought was yours. Check the profile weekly for unexpected changes to the name, category, hours or website. If ownership has genuinely been taken, request access through the profile and be ready to prove the business is yours with the same evidence pack described above.
Staying out of trouble
- Business name matches signage and trade licence, with no added keywords
- Address qualifies: staffed, signed, and yours during stated hours
- Hours are accurate, including the Friday break and Sunday closure if they apply
- Primary category reflects the main thing you do on site
- Service areas cover where you genuinely go, not an aspirational radius
- One profile per real location, no exceptions
- Evidence pack kept current so an appeal never waits on paperwork
- Profile checked weekly for suggested edits and ownership changes

Frequently asked questions
How long does GBP reinstatement take in the UAE?
There is no published turnaround and it varies widely by case. Straightforward soft suspensions with a clean evidence pack tend to resolve fastest. Address-related and eligibility cases take longer because a human reviewer has to reconcile documents. Resubmitting repeatedly does not speed it up.
Can I just make a new Google Business Profile instead?
No, and it usually makes things worse. A second listing for the same business creates a duplicate, typically gets suspended in turn, and abandons the review history attached to the original. Recover the existing profile unless the business genuinely no longer qualifies at that address.
Will a virtual office or flexi-desk pass?
Often not. Google expects a location staffed during your stated hours where customers can be met, and shared licence addresses used by many businesses fail that test regularly. If this is your situation, the fix is usually the address itself rather than the appeal.
Do I lose my reviews when a profile is suspended?
Not automatically. Reviews are attached to the listing and usually return with it after reinstatement. They are lost when the listing is deleted, or stranded when a business abandons the suspended profile and starts a new one, which is another reason not to do that.
Can keywords in my business name get me suspended?
Yes. The name field must match your real-world name as it appears on signage and the trade licence. Adding a service or a location to rank better is a guideline breach and it is enforced. Correct the name before filing any appeal.
What if the reinstatement is refused twice?
Stop resubmitting and work out what was actually unresolved. If it is fixable, such as a licence name mismatch, fix it and appeal once more. If the address itself does not qualify, no volume of appeals will change that and the underlying setup has to change.
