Most Dubai MacBook owners with a damaged machine assume it is worth zero. Sharaf DG's trade-in tool returns 'ineligible'. The Apple UAE site quietly excludes anything with cracked glass. Dubizzle listings get ignored. So the laptop sits in a drawer for two years until it is genuinely worth nothing.
Azizi Technologies takes a different position. We buy damaged MacBooks because we run our own Apple repair lab in Bur Dubai and have a parts pipeline that turns broken devices into refurbished stock. Damage types we buy

What we will not buy
Burnt or fire-damaged units, water-damaged units more than 12 months after submersion with visible corrosion bloom (the salt damage propagates), MacBooks we have reason to believe are stolen (we check Activation Lock status and ask for proof of ownership), and devices with Apple Activation Lock where the seller cannot prove original purchase - we will not bypass Apple security under any circumstance.

Repair vs sell - the honest economic decision
We run our own Apple repair lab, so we are equally happy to repair your MacBook (you keep it) or buy it as-is (we repair and resell). When you WhatsApp us, we quote both options. Use this framework:
- 1If the repair cost is less than 35% of the post-repair resale value AND you actually use the MacBook daily, repair and keep.
- 2If repair cost is 35-60% of post-repair value, it is a coin-flip - depends on emotional attachment, data on the device, time without it.
- 3If repair cost is over 60% of post-repair value, sell as-is to us (or to anyone else with a repair pipeline). Buying a refurbished replacement is usually cheaper than fixing.
Worked example
MacBook Pro 14" M2 with cracked screen. We quote two numbers side by side: what we pay for it as it is, and what the screen replacement costs with a genuine Apple part fitted by us. Then check what a working 14-inch M2 sells for on Dubizzle. If the repair quote sits well under that resale value and you use the Pro daily, fix it and keep it. If you wanted a bigger or newer machine anyway, put the as-is offer toward a refurbished M1 Pro 14" instead. Both are valid; we discuss live on WhatsApp.
Data first - before anything else
If you have important data on the damaged MacBook, recover it before selling. We run a cleanroom data recovery lab in Bur Dubai (see /data-recovery-dubai) and can pull data from MacBooks that no longer boot. Recovery is priced on the damage, which we confirm after a free diagnosis. We can deduct this from your buyback quote if you sell the device to us afterwards, which often covers the recovery cost.
The 5-photo workflow for damaged MacBooks

Locked iCloud edge case
If your damaged MacBook is iCloud-locked and you cannot sign out (forgotten password, account issues), we have a slower process. Bring original purchase invoice and Emirates ID. We help you submit an Apple Activation Lock removal request which typically takes 5-14 days. Once Apple unlocks, we proceed to purchase. We do not bypass Apple security under any circumstances - the activation lock unlock has to go through Apple's official channel.
Environmentally responsible disposal if we cannot buy
On the rare occasion we cannot buy a unit (extreme fire damage, no recoverable parts), we still take it for environmentally responsible disposal through an e-waste recycler. Better than landfill, and you walk away with closure on the device.
