Al Quoz is an industrial district and IT support here has almost nothing in common with supporting a tower office. The customers are warehouses, logistics operators, fit-out contractors, printing and manufacturing units, car workshops, and the art galleries and creative studios clustered in Alserkal Avenue. The buildings are large, mostly concrete and steel, often with high ceilings and racking, and they were not built with data networks in mind. That single fact drives most of what we do here. Coverage is the recurring problem. A consumer access point sitting in a front office will not reach the back of a warehouse, and the usual improvised answer, a chain of range extenders, produces exactly the intermittent connectivity that makes handheld scanners and stock systems unreliable. Doing it properly means a site survey, cabling to sensible points, and access points positioned for the actual layout including racking, which absorbs signal far more than an empty floor plan suggests. The second Al Quoz-specific issue is environmental: dust, heat and vibration are constant in a working unit, and network hardware and computers rated for an air-conditioned office fail early when mounted in a workshop. Equipment needs to be specified and located for the conditions rather than dropped in and hoped for. The third is that many Al Quoz units run a front office and a shop floor with genuinely different needs on one connection, which is worth separating properly.
