We reply with a written AED range within 30 minutes during workshop hours (Monday to Saturday 09:00 to 21:00, Friday break 12:00 to 14:00). If the range works for you, you book a slot at Concord Tower in Dubai Media City or G 58, IT Center Building in Bur Dubai for the physical inspection. The final number is decided at inspection, but in 18 years of doing this we land within 5 to 10 percent of the WhatsApp range on more than 90 percent of devices.

What condition issues do you actually accept - cracked screen, dead battery, water damage?

Accepted Answer

Yes to all three, but the price reflects the condition. Cracked screen on a MacBook Pro 14 M3 Pro: we still buy it, typically 35 to 55 percent of the mint-condition number because we replace the display in-house. Dead or swollen battery is a small deduction (AED 200 to AED 450 depending on model) because we already stock replacement batteries. Water damage is case-by-case: if the logic board powers on and posts to macOS we still buy, usually 25 to 45 percent of mint; if it is a dead board we buy as parts for AED 400 to AED 1,800 depending on chip generation. Bent chassis, missing keys, dent in the lid - all accepted with a transparent line-item deduction on the written quote. The only model we typically decline is a 2010 to 2011 MacBook with non-Retina screen because resale demand has collapsed - those we accept only as electronics-recycling drop-offs (AED 0).

How do I get paid - cash, bank transfer, or what?

Three payment methods, your choice. (1) Physical AED cash counted in front of you at the workshop, signed receipt, walk out same day - this is the most popular option, used by about 60 percent of sellers. (2) Same-day UAE bank transfer to your Emirates NBD, ADCB, FAB, Mashreq, ENBD, RAKBank or any UAE account - typically lands within 30 to 90 minutes during banking hours, instant on weekends via UAEFTS. (3) Wire transfer to an overseas account if you are already relocated - takes 1 to 3 working days through the international SWIFT corridor, no additional fee from us though your receiving bank may charge intermediary fees. We do not pay in cryptocurrency, foreign cash, or gold. Every payment, regardless of method, is accompanied by a signed AED-denominated receipt with our trade licence number and your Emirates ID or passport reference for compliance.

What ID do I need to bring to sell my MacBook?

UAE residents bring Emirates ID, front and back. UAE citizens bring Emirates ID or family card. Tourists or short-term visitors bring passport plus the entry stamp page or current UAE visa. Businesses selling fleet MacBooks bring trade licence copy, signed authorisation letter on company letterhead naming the person handing the devices over, and that person's Emirates ID. Estate sales bring the will or letter of administration plus your Emirates ID. We log ID against device serial number for every transaction - this is standard UAE second-hand electronics compliance under the Department of Economic Development rules and protects both sides if a device is ever reported stolen later. No grey transactions, no off-the-books purchases.

What happens to my data - do you wipe it before resale?

We do not touch your data until you have signed it over. Standard procedure on every MacBook intake: (1) You sit with our technician while we boot the MacBook into Recovery Mode (Apple Silicon: hold power button on startup; Intel: Command-R), (2) we run Disk Utility to erase the internal SSD and then reinstall a fresh copy of macOS Sonoma or Sequoia in front of you, (3) on Apple Silicon Macs we then put the device into DFU mode and run a full Apple Configurator 2 restore from a separate Mac, which wipes the SSD at the firmware level and removes the activation lock binding to your Apple ID, (4) we power it on, get to the Setup Assistant screen, then power down. You watch this whole process before the cash changes hands - typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on model. If you want we can also pre-export Photos, Mail or specific folders to an external drive you bring, free of charge.

What if I disagree with your final inspection price - is the WhatsApp quote binding?

The WhatsApp quote is an honest range, not a haggling tactic - if the device matches the photos and your description, the final number lands inside that range about 90 percent of the time. If the inspection finds something material that was not visible in the photos (water damage indicators tripped, hidden display delamination, undisclosed battery service warning, bent chassis), we show you the issue, explain the deduction in writing, and you decide. If you do not accept the revised number, you walk out with your MacBook, no charge, no pressure - we have built 18 years of reputation on never doing the bait-and-switch tactics that some buy-back shops in Bur Dubai souk and online marketplaces are known for. Every written quote we issue at the workshop is valid for 7 calendar days, so you can take it, get a second opinion, and come back if we are still the best offer.

Free pickup option for clients in Dubai Media City, Studio City, JLT, Marina, JBR, Bur Dubai, Business Bay, DIFC, DHCC, DMCC, Bluewaters or Palm Jumeirah: we collect from your home or office, do the inspection at our Concord Tower workshop, and either deliver cash back to you within 4 to 6 hours or process the bank transfer same-day. Total elapsed time from your first WhatsApp photo to having the AED in your account is typically the same business day. Fleet sales of 5 to 50 devices: 1 to 3 working days depending on count, with a single consolidated invoice and one payment.

Question 8

Do you buy iCloud-locked or Activation Lock Macs?

Short answer - no, not unless you can unlock them in our presence. Apple's Activation Lock is bound to your Apple ID and Find My Mac setting, and a locked Mac is essentially a paperweight that cannot be resold or reused. Before you bring the MacBook in, sign out: System Settings, your name at the top, Sign Out from iCloud, enter your Apple ID password, confirm. On older macOS versions it is System Preferences then Apple ID then Overview then Sign Out. If you forgot the Apple ID password, recover it on appleid.apple.com before coming in. If you bought the MacBook second-hand and never knew the previous owner's Apple ID, you have a problem - we do not buy these because Apple cannot legitimately unlock them without the original purchase receipt linked to the original buyer. The only exception: we accept locked Macs as parts donors for AED 200 to AED 1,200 depending on chip generation and condition, with full disclosure of the lock status logged in the receipt.
